The Challenge: Piper has one month to get the rock band Dumb a paying gig.

The Deal: If she does it, Piper will become the band's manager and get her share of the profits.

The Catch: How can Piper possibly manage one egomaniacal pretty boy, one talentless piece of eye candy, one crush, one silent rocker, and one angry girl? And how can she do it when she's deaf?

Review:
Two words can basically sum up how I felt about this book: LOVED IT! This book was seriously amazing, and Antony John really weaved all these different elements that you wouldn’t expect into an awesome book. Sorry for the repetitiveness!

One thing I really loved was the main character, Piper. She was a really funny and strong character with a great sense of humor, and even though she’s deaf, she didn’t let it get in her way of trying to manage the band, Dumb. You also saw her change, A LOT, into a different, more self-confident person, who eventually found herself by the end of the book. Not only did you get to see Piper develop into the person that she was meant to be, but you also got to see her relationship with her parents develop more, as well as the band. The band was really this gigantic mess in the beginning, but with Piper, and a lot of changes, she was able to make those “five flavors” blend :D
What made Five Flavors of Dumb unique was the fact that a deaf girl was the main protagonist (you don’t get that very often), and she had to manage a band (you really don’t get that very often either). I loved all the different personalities in the band. Even though they all clashed in the beginning, of course it would eventually have to work out.

Another thing I loved about Five Flavors of Dumb was the message it gave out in the end. It was basically saying that you should be unique, and I’m all for unique. The ending was really inspirational and inspiring and definitely really happy :)

Overall, this book was really good. It had great characters with really diverse personalities, and the concept was really original (because really… who’s ever heard of a deaf girl managing a band???). Antony John created a really cool and super intriguing book that I would recommend to anyone. Like seriously, anyone. I bet that you’ll like it!

Cover Review:
This cover is really cool!  I really like it's edgy vibe because it really fits the rock band aspect of the book.  Although, the girl in the front who I assume is Piper, is supposed to have blonde hair I'm pretty sure, but whatever, the model fits the edginess of the cover.

  2. I never heard of this one before but it sounds good! I like that the main character's deaf. I see loads of potential for character development not only in Piper but the rest of the band mates as well. Glad you liked it! I'll be adding it to my TBR list asap :)
