Waiting on Wednesday (50): Fangirl

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly feature, which is brought to you by Jill at Breaking the Spine! This meme is where you can post about what book(s) you're really look forward to.

This week, I absolutely can't wait for...

Fangirl

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
September 10th, 2013
A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.
Cath is a Simon Snow fan.
Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan . . .
But for Cath, being a fan is her life — and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.
Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.
Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.
Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.
For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?
Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?
And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

First of all, I loved Eleanor & Park.  So, naturally, I can't wait until Fangirl comes out because not only is the cover super cute, but also the story sounds right up my alley since Cath and Wren are both going off to college and I'm going off to college too this fall.  I'm not that big into fandoms, but this one does definitely sound interesting and I can't wait until I can get my hands on it!

What are you waiting for today?

May Favorites/Round Up

This was something new that I started last month for April.  Obviously, this is a little late, but that is primarily due to the end of the school year, as I had finals and I graduated high school!!  I also got my wisdom teeth taken out which has made me lazy.

Books:
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
Love, love, love this book!  It's become one of my favorites and I'm so glad that I finally got to buy it.  Not only is the cover super cute, but the story itself is just as adorable.  It's definitely a bittersweet story, mixing in romance with family life.  It's also filled with awkward moments that were way too cute.  I also love the fact that Park is half Korean.  If he were a real person, I would be all into him, minus the eyeliner though if you know what I mean.  If you haven't tried this one yet, definitely do!

Music:
Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey
I'm not the biggest fan of Lana Del Rey, but when I randomly decided to listen to Young and Beautiful off of The Great Gatsby soundtrack, I fell in love with it.

Chocolate by The 1975
I heard this playing on the radio and I kind of liked it but not really.  After a while though, I started really getting into it and bought the song.  Now I listen to it nonstop.  If you're into alternative music, which I think this is classified under, then you might like it.

TV Shows:
Downton Abbey
I finally got on the Downton Abbey train!!  Unfortunately, Netflix doesn't have series 3 :(  So I'm not impatiently waiting for that (I was able to borrow series 2 from a friend who has the DVDs).  I guess it may seem boring because it's set in the early 1900s, but it's super interesting to see the relationships between all the characters since there are so many of them.  It's a really good show!

Law & Order: SVU
This series did come out when I was I was like 4.  Pretty much, it's been around for a while.  Since all of my regular shows have ended and all, I decided to watch random episodes because I'm into mysteries like these.    I've been hooked and haven't been able to stop!  It's been a problem haha.

Movies:
The Great Gatsby
I saw this one for Mother's Day with my mom and sister and it was definitely really cool.  Honestly, I was just curious to see how the music would intertwine into the movie because singers like Jay Z and Lana Del Rey were on the soundtrack.  If you haven't seen it yet, then you definitely should because it was a really cool movie.  You don't need to see it 3D though.  It really isn't worth it.

Iron Man 3
Ahhh Iron Man!!  I was super excited to see this one and couldn't wait until I could get my eyes on it!  There's a huge plot twist, that I didn't see, but my friend thought it was super obvious.  The whole story was really cool and I can't wait to find out how this will lead into the second Avengers movie.

Books Read:
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Mind Games by Kiersten White
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney

This month has been another slow month with AP testing and getting ready for the end of the school year.  Reading has been a little slow too, as I only got through 4 books.  I think I'm going through another reading slump.  I've definitely been watching way to much TV and not reading enough books!  This is becoming a problem!  Hopefully more will come out of June :)

I hope you have a good June!
