Review: Bad Girls Don't Die

Title: Bad Girls Don't Die
Author: Katie Alender
Date Released: April 21st, 2009
Pages: 352
Rating: 4 out of 5

Description:
When Alexis's little sister Kasey becomes obsessed with an antique doll, Alexis thinks nothing of it. Kasey is a weird kid. Period. Alexis is considered weird, too, by the kids in her high school, by her parents, even by her own Goth friends. Things get weirder, though, when the old house they live in starts changing. Doors open and close by themselves; water boils on the unlit stove; and an unplugged air conditioner turns the house cold enough to see their breath in. Kasey is changing, too. Her blue eyes go green and she speaks in old-fashioned language, then forgets chunks of time.

Most disturbing of all is the dangerous new chip on Kasey's shoulder. The formerly gentle, doll-loving child is gone, and the new Kasey is angry. Alexis is the only one who can stop her sister -- but what if that green-eyed girl isn't even Kasey anymore?

Review:
When I picked this book up, I really didn’t know what to expect. But when the Katie Alender mentions the creepy house that Alexis lives in, and that her little sister, Kasey, likes collecting dolls, I knew it was going to get creepy. Note: Creepy dolls + creepy house = creepy book.  However, Bad Girls Don’t Die was really good, and seriously addicting. Yeah, you can ignore my little equation ;)

The beginning was a little slow, and I wasn’t sure if I would get into it, but then, BAM! I could not leave this book alone. Bad Girls Don’t Die was so full of mystery and suspense that I wanted to find out more and see what would happen in the end.

My favorite character would have to be Alexis because of her pink hair and antisocial and “anti-cheerleader” personality, and she was sort of like the rebel in the family. As the story progressed, you also notice that she changes into a much different person. All the characters were pretty cool and I liked them, except I thought that Megan’s role in the book was a little random... I think it’s cool that she sort of had a sixth sense, but it was random because she was a cheerleader and all popular and stuff.

Another thing that I really liked about Bad Girls Don’t Die were the descriptions. They were really descriptive (duh!) and you could just imagine the house and the doll in your head.

If you’re looking for a lot of suspense, some mystery and maybe a little bit of creepiness, then you should definitely go check this out. I’m not normally the type to read ghost stories (ghosts terrify me!) but I really liked this one! Katie Alender also has another book coming about in June called From Bad to Cursed which is another story about Alexis. So, yeah! Go check this book out now if you’re in the mood for a scary book :D

Cover Review:
From looking at the cover, you wouldn't really be able to tell that this is supposed to be a ghost story because of the light colors- or at least that's how I felt when I saw it.  It's a really pretty cover though!
